Cláudia and Roges propose the corporal materials originating from Capoeira regional and angola with the purpose of being used as tools of training, corporal investigation, creation and choreographic composition.

For the transmission and development of the contents they divided the training into four sections:

Section 1: Principles of Capoeira

The relationship between movement and music, spatial notions and cardio respiratory training will be explored, followed by the Ginga and the Frontal Strikes.

Content:

Video 1: Warm up and Stretching + Frontal Strikes

Section 2: Transit Between Levels, Variations and Combinations

Movements of capoeira will be proposed that provoke the relationship between the high, medium and low levels.

Content:

Video 1: Displacements (Queixada, Armada, Ginga em L, Vingativa)

Video 2: Levels (Cocorinha, Queda de quatro, Negativa Rolê, Rasteira) + Sequence 

Section 3: Flourishing/Floreando

Introduction to Floreios in capoeira.

Section 4: From Capoeira to Contemporary Dance

Choreographic sequence that addresses this dialogue between contemporary dance and capoeira.

Training Plan

  • 1 - Principles of Capoeira

    In this first part of the training Cláudia and Roges will introduce the Principles of Capoeira:

    Starting with a warm up and stretching, followed by an introduction to Ginga and introducing the Frontal Strikes of Capoeira.

  • 2 - Section 2: Displacements

    Section 2: Transit Between Levels, Variations and Combinations

    Movements of capoeira will be proposed that provoke the relationship between the high, medium and low levels.

  • 3 - Section 2: Levels

    Section 2: Transit Between Levels, Variations and Combinations

    Movements of capoeira will be proposed that provoke the relationship between the high, medium and low levels. This section has two videos.

    Video 2: Levels (Cocorinha, Queda de Quatro, Negativa Rolê, Rasteira) + Sequence 

  • 4 - Section 3: Floreios

    In this section, Cláudia will approach the movements called "floreios" from Capoeira.

    These are the four movements:

    • Aú rasteiro
    • Ponte/Bridge
    • Negativa sideways
  • 5 - Section 4: from Capoeira to Contemporary Dance

    In this last section, Cláudia and Roges present a choreography that will approach the technique given and how it can combine with contemporary dance.
